![]() It is sad, when purchasing a good mobo with modern i226v NIC, having a good gigabit router (ASUS AX86U) I have now to use PCIe or USB NIC, because onboard NIC simply does not work as it shouldĮven my AX wifi gives much better speed than cable now. I don't know, perhaps the quality of a cable is not good enough, but it definitely is at least CAT5E, because it worked well with older NIC at 1Gigabit. After installing the latest version of Intel® Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack and many hoops and bounds later, I went back into device manager and noticed my ethernet device was now showing under network adapters as 'Intel(R) Ethernet Controller (2) I225-V'. My previous Mobo had Intel I218V and it worked like a charm with 1Gbit full duplex for 6 years, giving me stable 25-35Mbytes/sec FTP download. Anyway it should work at least with 1Gbit without any issues. ![]() I have a CAT6 cable, about 15-20m long, inside a concrete wall, so it is not possible to replace it. But experimenting with driver settings I found that when I select Auto negotiation or set manually to 1Gbit and 2.5Gbit full duplex I get 3-5Mbytes/sec downloading from FTP.
